Virtual Organizing can refer to organizing your digital life, organizing a virtual event, or working with a Professional Organizer virtually through programs, coaching, and virtual sessions. I help with the first one via the third one. I also help you get your home, business, and life organized.
I've been a Professional Organizer for 14 years and for the past 4 years I've been solely working as a Virtual Organizer. I absolutely love the process and being able to help even more people.
How Does it Work?
All Professional Organizers that work virtually have their unique models. We are all unique in our approach, personalities, and expertise. This is why it is very important to find one that fits your needs and that you feel comfortable with.
My model has evolved over the past few years because through trial and error I have learned what formats work best. Much like when we are trying new systems to get organized it is important to evaluate what works and what doesn't.
Some of my clients simply need my self-directed programs, others need private coaching, and some need the more affordable group coaching program.
Self Directed Programs:
I have three self-directed programs. One that takes you through the living areas of your home, another for paper & digital declutter, and one for photos. Each of these gets you on your path to reducing what you have to make getting organized easier.
These are a great option for people who simply want to reduce clutter and have a good sense of how to organize what they will have in the end. I also use them in my coaching programs.
They are step-by-step programs in video format that you can work on at your own pace.
Private sessions are done in Zoom and are customized to your needs. That means if you just need to talk about your struggles, get direction from me, and then go off to work on your own we would typically do one call each week.
Some people need more accountability and guidance while they work so we do actual sessions where they work while we are on the call. These sessions are typically for 3 hours.
You get your login at my site that will hold all of your replays, notes from our sessions, and any resources that I share with you. You also get access to my self-directed programs included with your coaching package and I provide email support between calls.
My 3-month group coaching program Sensibly Organized is a more affordable option than private coaching. You still get hands-on help from me but in a group setting.
In addition to the reduced cost, you learn from those that have similar struggles. Oftentimes just seeing you are not alone can help you relax and get motivated. You also get access to all of my self-directed programs.
We have a weekly coaching call on Zoom where you can join live or submit questions ahead of time and catch the answers on the replay.
We do a weekly virtual organizing session on Zoom where you show up and start working on your organizing project. I am there to hold you accountable and answer any questions that may pop up for you. This can help you stay focused and make a lot of progress!
You also have access to a private community on my website which is like a Facebook group combined with an old-school forum where you can ask questions between sessions.
Is it Right for You?
Virtual organizing is perfect for the person who doesn't want to or can’t have (I’m writing this during the pandemic) someone in their home or their office. Some people have anxiety about that, others simply want to work with someone who isn’t local to them. I love that if you love my style of teaching and you live across the world we can still work together.
I've worked with hundreds of clients over the years and I can tell you many times, I would show up at people's homes, and they would say, I almost canceled last minute. There's a lot of fear and shame around being disorganized and there shouldn't be. I've seen it all and will never judge you. All I see when I see your space, is how can I help? I don't see the mess. I think most organizers feel that way.
With virtual organizing, you can show me what you're dealing with but you don't have to. This is especially helpful when we are dealing with paperwork and digital files. While I can assure you that I will keep everything confidential some people just don’t want someone else seeing their private stuff. I won’t stumble upon your credit card debt or any legal papers you may have.
For virtual organizing to work for you, you must be able to be open about your challenges, take direction, and do the work.
While it isn’t necessary if you can get help from a family member or friend it can make the process go faster. It is however very important that the person helping you be objective and trust the direction I give.
